Grasshopper.com recently posted an article about how coworking spaces are taking unique approaches to building community and collaboration. The article mentions the member lunches that are rocking Enerspace since we expanded and added a beautiful, full kitchen with high end stove, oven, dishwasher, huge island and ample counter space. As the article mentions, coworkers are generally in spaces to be productive with a secondary interest in being a part of a community of cool people that they can’t find in their home office.
At Enerspace, we are focused on providing a beautiful, inspiring place to work and we’re experimenting with how to integrate more wellness into the day. We spend most of our waking hours at work so how can we make them contribute more to our mental and physical well-being? We have a fitness space where we host yoga classes, a shower for the bikers and to kick the tires on our fancy new kitchen, I whipped up some healthy omelets. We all hung out in the kitchen and chatted about food and Fitbits and by the time we were done, three of our members had dibs on the next three Fridays to prepare lunch for the members.
Now each Friday, members cook one of their crowd-pleasing favorites and we share the recipes in our weekly newsletter. Awesome example of adding some mental and physical health to the day in a way that would just never happen in a home or corporate office.
